PLANT CITY ENTERTAINMENT HAS A NEW HOME!

President Hal Brewer, M.D. and the Board of Directors announced at the Applause Awards Banquet held September 12, 2009 that Plant City Entertainment, Inc. has purchased a building that will become P.C.E., Inc.'s very own theater. The 6,000 square foot building located 101 N. Thomas Street in Plant City was originally home to the Plant City Courier Newspaper and was most recently utilized as an auction house.

After minor renovations and updating the building will become the Plant City Entertainment, Inc. Theater.

What's Coming Up

PCE'S ANNUAL GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING

CALLING ALL MEMBERS AND ALL PROSPECTIVE MEMBERS

The general meeting open to all members of Plant City Entertainment, Inc. will be held Tuesday, July 20th at 7:00 P.M. at the Plant City Entertainment, Inc. theater located at 101 N. Thomas Street in Plant City. The election of new members of the Board of Directors will be held at that time. Members must be present at the meeting in order to vote. New memberships and memberships requiring renewal will be accepted prior to the meeting. Membership prices are: Individuals - $15.00 per year, Families - $20.00 per year, Seniors and Students - $10.00, Senior Families - $18.00.

Board members whose terms of office are expiring are:

Hal Brewer, Marsha Passmore, Tyler Hollis and Betty Roney.

The slate of candidates running for election to the board include:

The Jazz Age lives on in this light, romantic spoof of "The Roaring 20's" musical comedy. This is the musical that made Julie Andrews a star!
Nominated for a Tony Award on Broadway,
the setting is the French Riviera. Polly, an English heiress attending Mme. Dubonnet's Finishing School, falls in love with Tony, a delivery boy. Recalling her father's warning to beware fortune seekers, she posses as a working girl, unaware Tony is in fact the missing son of the wealthy Lord Brockhurst. Things get complicated and hilarious with the unexpected arrival in Nice of Polly's parents and Lord and Lady Brockhurst....but not to worry, a happy ending is in store for all.

The show's many memorable roles include the flirtatious Mme. Dubonnet, her boy-crazy students and Polly, which is the role that turned Julie Andrews into an overnight sensation. With its catchy tunes, period dances (including the inevitable Charleston) and winning sense of humor, "The Boy Friend" is a sparkling, tongue-in-cheek 1920's romp in the spirit of "No, No, Nanette."

Directed by Nick Folkes, who has assembled a live Dixieland band for the performances.
A fun score provides toe-tapping music for a cast of amazing singers, dancers, actors, and the story will keep audience
members laughing and applauding.
